Emily McDowell

quick! your friend just got dumped, locked herself out of her car and is stuck in the rain without her jacket in a packet (oh the horror!) if you’re lucky, you know exactly what to say… if you’re not so lucky, don’t worry emily mcdowell has got your back. with her out of the box cards being wild, honest and heartfelt, you will never have a brain fart again…maybe. be sure to check out her online store for more creative goodies beyond cards.

Joni Mitchell Little Green

“little green” by joni mitchell

born with the moon in cancer
choose her a name she’ll answer too
call her green and the winters can not fade her
call her green for the children who have made her
little, green, be a gypsy dancer

he went to california
hearing that everything’s warmer there
so you write him a letter, say, “her eyes are blue”
he sends you a poem and she’s lost to you
little, green, he’s a non-comformer

just a little green
like the color when the spring is born
there’ll be crocuses to bring to school tomorrow
just a little green
like the night’s when the northern lights perform
there’ll be icicles and birthday clothes
and sometimes there’ll be sorrow

child with a child pretending
weary of lies you’re sending home
so you sign all the papers in the family name
you’re sad and you’re sorry but you’re not ashamed
little green, have a happy ending

just a little green
like the color when the spring is born
there’ll be crocuses to bring to school tomorrow
just a little green
like the night’s when the northern lights perform
there’ll be icicles and birthday clothes
and sometimes there’ll be sorrow

thank god for blackbird’s indoor plant guide. i love having plants around the house but my lack of knowledge on the subject makes it hard and extremely frustrating (rest in peace ficus tree). for more on how not to kill a plant click here. you can find some indoor plant inspiration below to get your green thumb going.

Indoor Plant 3

tracey emin | the kiss

“It was the moment everyone was waiting for, because you want to know that it’s real. After that kiss, you realise it isn’t just splendour and pomp: it is two people in love. I’m talking about the second kiss, of course. The first one was so quick I almost missed it. The second kiss definitely looked like a snog; a proper kiss. They looked really naive and natural, like a child’s fantasy of a bride and groom. This was an incredible day of pageantry and, above all, Britishness.” Tracey Emin

so much love for this human and how fitting that this post falls on a wednesday?? holla to my #wcw! when she released her video for tilted, i was hooked immediately. mesmerized by her movements and effortlessly cool style, i stood up from my couch (where you can see my imprint from a long day of surfing the internet) and began to learn the entire routine from the video (flashback to my sia-chandelier obsession). this is just the tip of the iceberg of what you can expect from the creative french native and i am beyond excited to see her live come april. check out the latest issue of fader where you can read the full story.
